Food from Argyll wins Gold in Council Excellence Awards |

The Food from Argyll project recently enjoyed a successful evening at the Argyll & Bute Council Excellence Awards 2008, achieving Gold in their category - Outstanding Environment, sponsored by Shanks Argyll and Bute. Dunoonֺs Queenֺs Hall played host to the third Argyll & Bute Council Excellence Awards on Thursday 27th November 2008. The awards evening was all about celebrating the success, innovation and commitment of the people who work for Argyll & Bute Council. The work which the Forum has done in promoting quality produce from Argyll and Bute under the Food from Argyll brand was commended, as was the hard work and commitment of all the local producers who had organised, managed and manned a quality foods tent at a number of music festivals throughout the summer. Sam Grant from Shanks Argyll and Bute said, "This project showed a strong partnership working ethos which has the potential to deliver substantial economic benefits to small food producers in the area." Attending the ceremony on behalf of Food from Argyll were Fergus Younger, Argyll and Bute Agricultural Forum, Alexandra Marshall, Local Food Producer, Virginia Sumsion, Local Food Producer, Jane Fowler, Argyll & Bute Council and Councillor Robert Macintyre, Argyll & Bute Council. Runners-up in the category were: Discover Bute Landscape Partnership from Development Services and Inveraray Primary School: Hot Composting from Community Services. The four other categories within the ceremony were: - Customer First, won by Implementation of CRM in Argyll & Bute; Health Improvement, won by Campbeltown Grammar with their submission for Healthy Me; Improvement, won by Argyll and Bute Registration Service; Vibrant Communities, won by the Jura Passenger Ferry Team. |
